(WJBF) – Hands Across the Border enhanced DUI enforcement is now underway across the region, with drivers along Sand Bar Ferry Road finding out Tuesday night the amount of resources state and local law enforcement is putting into action to stop impaired drivers and save lives ahead of the holidays, according to the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
With summer drawing to a close and Labor Day looming, law enforcement agencies from Georgia and South Carolina are joining forces for annual Hands Across the Border efforts, a coordinated multi-state operation focused on keeping impaired drivers off area roadways.
Efforts locally started Tuesday night, August 25th, with a massive safety checkpoint at the Georgia-South Carolina border in Beech Island and at the bridge into Augusta along Sand Bar Ferry Road, according to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety…
