CSRA water, sewage systems getting millions for upgrades after Helene

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – CSRA communities that were hit by Helene are in line for more than $65 million to strengthen water and sewage systems and better withstand future storms.

The local communities’ funding comes from nearly $500 million the state is getting from the Environmental Protection Agency for projects like these. The money comes through the 2025 American Relief Act and will be managed by the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority.

To qualify, communities must show they were impacted by Hurricane Helene and propose projects that reduce flood damage risk or make water and sewer systems more resilient…
