USC Aiken Plans Campus Expansion With Housing, Retail Spaces

University of South Carolina Aiken will add housing, restaurants, and retail spots to campus. Chancellor Dr. Dan Heimmermann announced the plans during a State of the University Address on Sept. 9.

The master plan will create a more residential setting with green spaces, better amenities, and public-private partnerships for mixed-use development. Growing enrollment is driving the need. Fall 2026 enrollment topped 4,500 students. Residence halls reached capacity.
