A man is behind bars and charged with murder after Richmond County deputies responded to a Washington Road hotel to investigate a suspicious situation. It was there, at Masters Inn, that 51-year-old Marchelle Pilger was found unresponsive and soon pronounced dead. A suspect, Michael Mitchell, 53, also from Evans, was detained on the scene and later charged with murder.
