AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – One of the pioneers of the Civil Rights movement is being honored in Augusta.
Augusta Transit will be joining other nonprofit and community organizations and transit advocates in Transit Equity Day in honor of Rosa Parks’ birthday, which was on February 4th.
According to organizers, Sustainable CSRA and its partner organizations will host the Transit Equity Day event on Saturday, February 3rd at 9 A.M. at the Hudson Memorial AME Church, located at 2 Taylor Street in Augusta.

Organizers say the purpose of the event is to elevate public transit as a civil right,
According to organizers, transit supporters will be able to ‘take a stand’ by taking a seat on an Augusta Transit bus (#3 Gold Line/East Augusta) following the presentations and ride to the Broad Street Transfer Facility in downtown Augusta and return back to Hudson Memorial AME Church.
