AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – There are some issues in Mayor Garnett Johnson’s office; namely the furniture. And it needs an upgrade.
“You know, if you come into our office, you can see there is certainly a need for an update of the office space there is a need,” said Mayor Garnett Johnson.
What the mayor needs is money. So he went before the finance committee Tuesday for a $25,000 adjustment to his budget.

“The mayor’s office has furniture that’s old, that’s from the previous last two mayors. The only thing he’s asking for is an upgrade,” said Commissioner Wayne Guilfoyle.
But some commissioners are critical, saying the mayor led the charge to cut all city budgets by 1% and yet he’s asking for a $25,000 adjustment.
“For him to come and ask for an increase of his budget and we haven’t even left out of the month of January; it seems a little absurd to me that he would do that,” said Commissioner Tony Lewis.
