The Olive Road Bridge in Augusta will be closed for up to three months after a vehicle crashed into a large beam on Wednesday.
A vehicle hit a large beam on the bridge, causing damage to the bridge and the supporting beams protecting it, according to a news release from the city.
The large red beam was designed to bring attention to the bridge, which has been hit numerous times.

The beam, along with debris from the vehicle that apparently struck the bridge, were sprawled across the road, according to an Augusta Chronicle reporter on scene. The beam was moved by a large truck.
The section of Olive Road near the bridge has been closed to allow CSX to conduct repairs and upgrades, which CSX estimates could take up to three months, according to the city. All traffic will be detoured to White Road and Kissingbower Road.
