AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) – A Ridge Spring man is behind bars accused of attacking a woman.
The victim and suspect, Brandon Marshall, met in September of 2023 at a gathering and decided to go someplace more private.
After checking into the Knights Inn on Richland Avenue in Aiken, reports say the suspect allegedly began using cocaine and was unable to perform sexually.
The victim told police as the evening continued, Marshall became hostile.
He reportedly threw her phone against the wall, pinned her against the wall, punched her in the face, and then strangled her.
The woman was able to get away from the initial attack, grab her purse and head toward the door.

Authorities say Marshall snatched her purse away as the woman fled the motel room.
The victim began knocking on other doors requesting help and ended up in the lobby, where employees called law enforcement.
Once on the scene, Aiken Department of Public Safety searched the room and found Marshall’s debit card, cocaine on the nightstand, and blood on the door frame. They also found the victim’s purse covered in blood nearby.
