Two gang members sentenced to Life in 2019 Hephzibah murder

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Two members of the Crips gang will be serving life sentences in connection with the 2019 murder of 22-year-old Gerald Waldon.

23-year-old Tareke Collins and 32-year-old Davon Jones were convicted Thursday, and sentenced to Life Imprisonment plus 5 years.

District Attorney Jared T. Williams states that Collins arranged a time to fight Waldon near Walton Acres in Hephzibah. Once Waldon arrived, Collins and Jones dragged him out of his vehicle at gunpoint. After a fight in which Waldon began to gain the upper hand, witnesses say Collins then shot and killed Waldon ‘execution style’.

The D.A. states that Waldon was previously involved in a relationship with the mother of Tareke Collins’ child, and that after sexually explicit content involving her was posted online, Collins
then arranged the fight.

Collins was convicted of Malice murder, Felony Murder, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.

Jones was convicted of Felony Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and pled to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
