Thomson woman charged with Vehicular Homicide in death of 82-year-old man

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – A Thomson woman is behind bars for allegedly killing a man after hitting him head-on in a crash.

The incident happened December 8th, 2023.

Reports say 32-year-old Brittany Hodges was driving west on I-20 when she hit the medal cable then continued on into traffic heading eastbound on the interstate. Police say she crossed 2 lanes of traffic and hit 82-year-old Eugene Hester head-on. He died from his injuries

A toxicology report revealed that Hodges had several drugs in her system including:

  • Methadone
  • Amphetamine
  • Methamphetamine
  • Lidocaine
  • Citalopram

She’s been charged with:

  • Homicide by Vehicle in the 1st Degree
  • Possession of Schedule II Drugs
  • Failure to Maintain Lane
  • Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
  • Reckless Driving
  • Driving while Unlicensed or Expired License

Hodges remains in the Columbia County Jail.
