Augusta, Grovetown men prosecuted on federal firearms and drug charges

GEORGIA (WJBF) – An Augusta man and a Grovetown man have been prosecuted along with multiple defendants on felony charges for illegal firearms possession and drug distribution.

According to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia’s office, Daveon Daniels, 25, of Grovetown, and Justin Anthony Brown, 32, of Augusta were indicted during the February term of the U.S. District Court Grand Jury.

According to the indictment, Daniels was charged with Illegal Possession of a Machine Gun and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon while Brown was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

The indictment also states that Matthew Lacey, 26, of Savannah, was charged in a superseding indictment with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and he originally was indicted on the same charge in November 2023 and the superseding indictment adds enhanced penalties.
