Parker’s Kitchen Moving Forward in Augusta

A convenience store and gas station chain based in Savannah is continuing to grow in Georgia, with a new location of Parker’s Kitchen moving forward in Augusta.

The 5,175-square-foot store is planned for 3645 Wheeler Road, according to construction plans. The site near Doctors Hospital of Augusta was formerly a two-story Wachovia bank . Some neighbors have expressed concerns about the store opening at an already-busy intersection, The Augusta Chronicle reports .

Parker’s Kitchen was founded in 1976, first opening in Midway, Georgia. There are now about 80 stores in Georgia and South Carolina. The company has been eyeing Augusta for expansion, announcing last summer that they were also looking to open a 3,800-square-foot store at Windsor Spring and Tobacco roads at a former Popeyes restaurant.

“As we looked for opportunities to expand, Augusta was a natural fit for us, since it’s a growing market that builds upon our existing corporate footprint,” founder and CEO Greg Parker said at the time.
