The Richmond County Coroner’s Office recently released the identity of a man who was fatally shot Friday on 15th Street in Augusta.
Marc Whitehead, 30, of Augusta, was shot at least once and pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release.
Just before 7:45 a.m. Friday, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1500 block of 15th Street for an injured person, according to previous reporting.
Deputies found Whitehead in a business parking lot and he was pronounced dead about 15 minutes later, The Chronicle reported.
An autopsy is scheduled, according to the coroner’s office.
