AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Exchange Club has announced that the 2024 Georgia Carolina State Fair has been cancelled, due to the impact of Hurricane Helene.
They stated that the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office will not have enough available resources to support security at the fair, with the work they’re doing across the Augusta area due to Helene recovery efforts.
They’ve also stated that there has been damage done to structures at the fair grounds, and that they are unsure if they would be able to secure power restoration or safe water in time.
The fair was scheduled for October 18th through the 27th.
