AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Officials confirmed a correctional officer was stabbed, resulting in non-life threatening injuries at Augusta State Medical Prison on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
According to the communications director of the Georgia Department of Corrections, the correctional officer was stabbed with a “homemade weapon at the hands of an inmate.”
The incident is being investigated. Not further information has been provided at this time.
