Vehicle strikes utility pole, power lines down on Washington Rd.

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – The intersection of Washington Road and Flowing Wells Road is closed due to power lines in the roadway.

According to a spokesperson for Columbia County Fire Rescue, two power poles are down after being struck by a tractor trailer in Columbia County near the intersection of Washington Road and Flowing Wells Road.

Georgia Power says 616 customers are without power, including the Kroger on Columbia Road and the Mullins Crossing shopping center. It’s scheduled to be restored by 12:45 pm.

Several sections of roadway are currently closed near the busy intersection.

Washington Road is closed to thru traffic between Kroger Road and Columbia Road, as well as along Flowing Wells Road from Columbia Road to Washington Road.

Deputies are on the scene directing traffic.

No injuries are reported.
