A Richmond County sheriff’s investigator on Friday successfully talked down someone threatening to jump from the 5th Street Bridge in downtown Augusta.
“A Richmond County Investigator, who also serves as a trained negotiator, arrived on the scene and engaged in conversation with the individual for nearly three hours,” noted a news release from the sheriff’s office. “Through patience, compassion, and skilled communication, the negotiator was able to successfully talk the individual down. The individual was then turned over to the proper authorities to receive the necessary care and assistance.”
