Augusta pauses debris removal with piles of work still to go

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Masters is almost here, and visitors will see the scars across the city from Hurricane Helene.

“I’ve seen a few tarps around the neighborhood, especially over by County Club Hills. They were hit hard,” said Keith Stone.

Augusta was hit hard, as evidenced by the large debris piles sill stack up across the city, and what you see is what you will get until Easter time. The city has stopped debris pickup in advance of The Masters. “We still got some hot spots to hit, everything in south of Tobacco Road might have to finish up on the second pass as well as the root balls. As far as the companies, they are coming back they will address it,” said Mayor Pro-Tem Wayne Guilfoyle. Augusta did not finish picking up storm debris by Masters…
