AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – What’s going on at a restaurant in Downtown Augusta is starting to eat at some commissioners. “They’ve been cited several times. They haven’t been obeying they’ve totally disregarded the law department,” said Commissioner Catherine Smith Rice. Since February, the Sheriff’s office has noted several complaints against Tiffany’s Eatery on Broad Street, including violations of the smoking ordinance, after-hours alcohol service and having a cover charge like it was a nightclub, and not a restaurant. The Sheriff recommended commissioners suspending Tiffany’s restaurant and alcohol licenses, but Commissioner Jordan Johnson does not support that step. “For five years, this business hasn’t had any issues, but it wasn’t until recently we started seeing problems at this business,” said Johnson.
