Columbia County to become a Single County Library Region

EVANS, Ga. (WJBF) – Columbia County is withdrawing from the Greater Clarks Hill Library Region to become a Single County Region within the state library system, the county announced Tuesday.

According to a press release sent May 6, the county has initiated the process of becoming a Single County Region and has received the necessary approvals from the state.

“…Columbia County Library will have greater autonomy to address the unique needs and preferences of our residents, while continuing to receive state funding and access to all current state library system resources,” the statement reads in part. “The Board of Commissioners understands the importance of providing quality library services and resources to our citizens and believes that staying with the state system as a Single County Region will allow the County to continue to do so effectively.”…
