Fort Gordon celebrates Army’s birthday with a run and cake

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – On Saturday, the Army is celebrating 250 years of shaping American history and protecting its democratic ideals.

Culminating Fort Gordon’s birthday celebration for the Army’s birthday was an early morning 2.5-mile run on Friday across the installation.

About a year and a half after it became Fort Eisenhower, the local Army post became Fort Gordon again – and unlike the previous name change, this one happened overnight.

It traversed command posts and barracks, sounding off with motivating Army cadences…
