Aiken officials approve Whiskey Road drainage project while questions remain

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – Aiken County officials have approved a drainage project on Whiskey Road that could ease flooding.

The first step of the project is to build a retention pond behind Hobby Lobby.

“We will then do a drainage line running from Athol Avenue that will then hit Powderhouse Road. We’ll then pipe that under Powderhouse Road into a pond. So we’ll basically have two routes for the water to go,” said Gary Bunker, Aiken County Council chairman…
