Augusta announces Hurricane Helene cleanup milestone, over 3.4 million tons of debris collected

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The City of Augusta announced Monday it has reached a milestone in Hurricane Helene recovery, nine months after the storm caused severe damage across the CSRA.

As of June 30, the “coordinated debris removal phase under FEMA Category A (vegetative debris) and Category B (construction and demolition debris)” has been completed.

According to the city, approximately 3,438,219 tons of storm-related debris has been removed from public roadways, rights-of-way and other locations impacted by the storm…
