In Augusta federal plea, man admits $4M COVID aid scheme

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A man pleaded guilty in Augusta federal court to trying to defraud the government of millions of dollars in a COVID benefits scheme.

Dantavious Jackson, 39, of Union City, pleaded guilty to mail fraud, said Tara M. Lyons, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia.

Georgia chapter of a Confederacy group says officials broke state law by planning an exhibit on ties to slavery, segregation and white supremacy.

Jackson now faces a possible sentence of up to 20 years of imprisonment, a period of supervised release, restitution and monetary penalties…
