Augusta administrator recommends $426 million SPLOST 9 project lists

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – There are a lot of wants for sales tax money, with more than a billion dollars in requests, but Augusta’s city administrator is recommending what projects should make the cut.“And I’ve trimmed it down to give us a starting point to discuss with the governing body to $426 million so that is a large ask as well,” said Augusta City Administrator Tameka Allen.Allen’s recommendations include $65 million for a new jail pod, $110 million dollars in roads and drainage work, And $65 million for quality-of-life projects.“We need to look at renovating the parks so our citizens can have something they’re proud of,” said Allen.Commissioners are planning another sales tax work session.
