Ga., S.C. farmers can apply now for federal disaster assistance

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Thursday that eligible farmers in Georgia and South Carolina can apply for a share of $16 billion in expedited assistance.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins stated agricultural producers who suffered eligible crop losses due to natural disasters in 2023 and 2024 can now apply for this assistance through the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program.

The Columbia County Board of Education has received approval for a resolution to increase the homestead exemption from $2,000 to $10,000.

According to Sen. Lindsey Graham, nearly $50 million in assistance will be going to South Carolina farmers. Figures weren’t available for Georgia farmers…
