AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Richmond County School System announced Friday that seven elementary schools have been recognized for excellence in cursive writing as part of the inaugural John Hancock Award program.
According to the school system, the recognition is part of the Georgia Department of Education’s emphasis on cursive instruction. The Georgia Board of Education’s newest English Language Arts (ELA) standards require cursive instruction in grades 3 through 5 beginning the 2025–2026 school year.
