AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – For thousands, trash day in Augusta also meant recycling day, but soon that’s no longer going to be automatic.“That’s just ridiculous, I never heard such thing. That’s supposed to help the environment besides you know,” said Fawn.Augusta wants the public to know that recycling is no longer a part of the city trash service, and customers who want to recycle must sign up with the hauler Costal Waste and recycling. The enrollment starts Friday.
“I think that’s terrible. That’s terrible. That’s the only words I have for it, it’s not a good thing,”said Denise Sykes.There is a price to pay. Costs differ on the amount of service customers want. If they want once a week recycling like it is now, it’s going to cost an additional $178 on top of the regular trash fee.
“You got to pay for a recycling bin? No lie, sounds like a scam to me,” said Tristan Jones.“At that price will you stop?”
