Margaret Elaine (Slate) Story, a Hartselle native who lived through the Great Depression, World War II and nearly a century of change, will celebrate her 100th birthday on Aug. 6.
Born in 1925 at 205 Sloss Street in Hartselle, Story was one of five children of Charlie Harrison Slate and Mary Ellen (Culbreath) Slate. She graduated in 1943 with a class of 24 from what was then Morgan County High School.
