Meg Heap Sworn In as U.S. Attorney, Pledges Safer Future for Georgia Families

SAVANNAH, Chatham County, Georgia – Margaret “Meg” Heap was sworn in Monday as interim U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, U.S. District Judge J. Randal Hall administered the oath at 11 a.m. in the U.S. courthouse in Augusta. Attorney General Pam Bondi appointed her to the position, effective the same day.

Under federal law, an interim appointee may serve up to 120 days unless a presidential nomination is made and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
