Burke County, GA – A Georgia woman has been arrested after being accused of repeatedly beating her 14-year-old grandson, leaving him with bruises, a busted lip, and a head laceration, according to local authorities.
Grandson Reports Daily Abuse
Patricia Green, whose age was not disclosed, was arrested on Sunday on one count of cruelty to children. Police were alerted after a Burke County High School counselor reported the boy’s claims of abuse. When deputies arrived, they observed the teenager in the counselor’s office with visible injuries.
The boy said Green beat him on a daily basis, with the head laceration allegedly caused by being hit with a dust pan.
Family Dynamics and Alcohol Involvement
The boy told authorities that Green was a heavy drinker and would become violent after consuming alcohol. He also said that his grandfather attempted to intervene, but Green would redirect her violence toward him, sometimes even calling police on him.
The grandfather corroborated the boy’s account, saying, “Whatever he told you is the truth,” and explained that Green became angry over not receiving child support payments. The boy’s parents were unable to care for him, leaving the grandparents with full custody of him and another child.
