AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – A gun was confiscated at the Academy of Richmond County on Thursday, according to a message sent to parents.
In a letter on Sept. 4, ARC Principal Dr. Travis Wiggins said that administrators became aware during the lunch period that a student had possibly brought a gun onto the campus.
“An administrative search was conducted, where a weapon was found and confiscated,” the letter reads in part. “We continued our normal schedule without further incident and Richmond County School System (RCSS) Police remained vigilant for the remainder of the day out of an abundance of caution. This incident is being addressed by RCSS Police following our Code of Student Conduct and Discipline.”…
