Georgia woman charged in fraud scheme impersonating Berks County Sheriff’s Office

The Pennsylvania State Police, Hamburg Station, is investigating a fraud scheme in which a Georgia woman allegedly posed as a Berks County Sheriff’s Office member to deceive a victim into making payments.

Troopers said the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Diamond Tierra Griffin of Augusta, Georgia, contacted victims by phone and falsely represented herself as a law enforcement officer. Griffin allegedly demanded money for the supposed release of an incarcerated individual under electronic monitoring.

Believing the requests to be legitimate, the victim transferred funds through mobile payment applications at Griffin’s direction. Investigators later determined that no such release program existed and that the scheme was entirely fraudulent…
