Motorcycle driver dead after multi-vehicle accident on Hwy 23 in Burke Co.

UPDATE, 8:48 A.M. – According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, one person has died after an accident that caused part of Highway 23 to be closed to traffic.

Deputies say they responded to a motor vehicle crash wit injuries on Highway 23 between Jack Delaigle Road and Hancock Landing Road on Monday morning around 6:27 A.M.

According to the initial investigation, a motorcycle driver was traveling westbound on Highway 23 and was struck on its left side by a large deer that entered the roadway from the south shoulder, and the impact caused the driver of the motorcycle to lose control and fall into the westbound lane causing the motorcycle driver to continue off the north shoulder of the roadway…
