Augusta Senior Citizens Council reopens after federal funding is restored

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Doors are open again at Augusta Senior Citizens Council, a local organization that helps senior citizens, after federal funding was restored.

According to the executive director, Kathleen Ernce, on Sept 12, all of the organization’s federal funds have been restored as of this month, and it is once again open for service.

Over the summer, the council was forced to close its doors on July 31 after federal funding was stopped. The nonprofit, which was founded in 1968, offered several opportunities for seniors to be involved in the community…
