RCSO, Police Benevolent Association team up to raise funds for wounded deputy

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) has teamed up with the Police Benevolent Association of Georgia (PBAGA) and the Police Benevolent Foundation to assist Deputy Victor Rodriguez, who was critically injured in the line of duty.

Just after midnight on October 2nd, Deputy Rodriguez was shot multiple times while responding to an armed robbery. Even while wounded, he courageously returned fire to protect others. He is currently in stable condition but faces a long and difficult recovery.

When deputies are injured in the line of duty, their medical bills are covered. However, their salary is reduced through workers’ compensation, and they lose the overtime and special duty work many rely on to provide for their families. The RCSO said that Deputy Rodriguez is not only a dedicated law enforcement officer, but also a husband and the proud father of a young daughter…
