Golden Harvest sees increased demand as WIC funding faces uncertainty

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The 15-day federal government shutdown has impacted programs like WIC, which provides assistance to more than 6 million American mothers and young children in the form of food, milk and other necessities.

For local organizations like Golden Harvest Food Bank, which say they have not seen these levels of hunger in more than a decade, the shutdown has only increased community need.
