RCSO officers involved in October 2nd shooting incident receive official clearance

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – There is an update on the investigation involving the two officers that were a part of the October 2nd shooting incident.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office states that the office has received official clearance from the Regional Force Investigation Team and District Attorney Jared T. Williams regarding the actions of Deputies Victor Rodriguez and Amanda Donald during that incident that involved Dalyn Dewayne Elder.

According to authorities, after a comprehensive review of the Regional Force Investigation Team’s findings, along with body-worn camera and surveillance footage, District Attorney Williams states that he determined that both deputies acted within their lawful duties to neutralize an immediate and deadly threat, and D.A. Williams adds in the review that Elder was an armed and dangerous fleeing felon who ambushed Deputy Rodriguez with the intent to cause serious harm or death.

Sheriff Gino Brantley stated, “We are thankful that Deputies Rodriguez and Donald are alive and that justice has prevailed through the facts of this investigation. We continue to stand by our deputies and all those who risk their lives each day to serve and protect our community.”…
