AIKEN, SC. (WRDW/WAGT) – Food banks across Aiken County are preparing for a surge in demand as federal funding for SNAP benefits is set to end after Nov. 1, potentially affecting more than 260,000 households statewide.
The Salvation Army of Aiken currently feeds 150 families monthly from its food pantry shelves. Captain Michael Good said that number has increased dramatically from about 30 families a year ago.
