Rocks spill across I-20 in Augusta, causing traffic hazard

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Dozens of large rocks spilled across eastbound I-20 Friday morning in Augusta, causing a major traffic hazard.

It happened shortly before 9 a.m. between Interstate 520 and the Washington Road exit.

There was a large amount of jagged rocks – many up to the size of a velleyball – in one spot closer to I-520, then when the roadway appeared clear, there was another cluster.

Cars were blowing out their tires from running over them and pulling off to the side…
