AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Reinvestment Fund, a national Community Development Financial Institution, announced Wednesday that Paine College and 10 other Historically Black Colleges and Universities are among the first to benefit from a new grant program.
According to Reinvestment Fund, it’s newly created HBCU Brilliance Initiative program will supply $40,000 in grants and up to $1 million in financing to each of the 11 institutions chosen, which, in addition to Paine, include:
- Bethune-Cookman University – Daytona Beach, Florida
- Coahoma Community College – Clarksdale, Mississippi
- Fort Valley State University – Fort Valley, Georgia
- Interdenominational Theological Center – Atlanta, Georgia
- Shorter College – North Little Rock, Arkansas
- Stillman College – Tuscaloosa, Alabama
- Tougaloo College – Tougaloo, Mississippi
- Virginia Union University – Richmond, Virginia
- Voorhees University – Denmark, South Carolina
- Wilberforce University – Wilberforce, Ohio
“The selected institutions demonstrate a high level of excellence already, as well as the ongoing need for support through knowledge building, access to capital and incomparable technical assistance,” said Christina Alexis, Head of HBCU Brilliance Initiative Program at Reinvestment Fund. “We are proud to work with these institutions to secure their futures by increasing funding, strengthening infrastructure, and creating pathways for long-term success.”
