Lung cancer awareness: Understanding the risks and the power of early detection

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)- November is lung cancer awareness month.

Lung cancer is one of the deadliest cancers in America, causing over one million deaths in men and women every year. And there’s a reason for that.

“About 80 to 85% of all lung cancers are going to be caused or attributed to cigarette smoking. But that’s not the only thing. We see a lot of lung cancer in people who don’t normally have those kind of risk factors. So people who are younger, people who’ve never smoked, we still see lung cancer in those people.
