Daytime and nighttime warming centers open in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) — Several warming centers have opened across the Augusta area to provide shelter from cold weather conditions.

Daytime warming centers are operating at the Carrie J. Mays Center, Bernie Ward Center and Henry Brigham Center.

People ages 65 and older and medically homebound households may begin applying now. Other eligible Georgians can schedule an appointment beginning Jan. 2, 2026.

Overnight shelters are available at the Augusta Rescue Mission, Garden City Rescue Mission and The Salvation Army Center of Hope…
