The City of Augusta, Georgia, has opened warming centers as temperatures are expected to drop to the low 30s on December 8, 2025. The centers are available to help residents stay safe during cold weather. To use overnight shelters, individuals need a shelter clearance from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Records Bureau before 5:00 PM. After 5:00 PM, they can contact the Sheriff’s Office Dispatcher for help.
Augusta Transit is providing free rides to warming shelters from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Residents can call 706-821-1719 to arrange transportation.
