AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Richmond County school leaders met Tuesday to try to get their legislative priorities in order for next year.
On Dec. 9, members of the Board of Education and staff met for the annual Legislative Luncheon. It was an opportunity for school leaders to let lawmakers know what they need from the state level.
“The other thing that we talked about was the PSERS so that we can increase the funding for those teachers coming in and their retirement fund and the TRS fun,” said Shawanda Stovall, president of the Richmond County Board of Education. “Those are important for us to make sure that our teachers, our staff members, those who pay into their system, have a good system to retire from, that they are able to have more money contributed to that fund.”…
