AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Richmond County School System hosted a food distribution on Thursday to help students and their families have food resources while school meals are not available during the holiday.
Volunteers at the monthly food distribution noticed high demand, with cars lining up as early as 6:30 a.m. for assistance.
“We got started right at 9 o’clock… before 10, we were pretty much done,” said Andre Lacey, a volunteer with Richmond County food distribution. “We had given out over 200 meals. So it goes fast. That’s why the people get here so early.”…
