Meg E. Heap has been officially appointed as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, securing her position with an oath administered by U.S. District Court Judge R. Stan Baker on Monday. Heap first assumed the role of interim U.S. Attorney on August 18, her appointment facilitated by Attorney General Pamela Bondi, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia.
Heap, whose legal career began in 1986 and spans over three decades, has progressively built her credentials from Volunteer Coordinator and Victim Advocate to holding the significant role as Chairman and Vice Chair of Georgia’s State Board of Pardons and Paroles her contributions to Georgia’s legal landscape saw her being appointed to the board by Governor Brian Kemp on January 19, 2021 laterally, Heap was also recognized as “District Attorney of the Year” in 2019 by the District Attorneys’ Association of Georgia.
