BARNWELL, S.C. (WACH) — Not many people live long enough to see more than a century pass, but Doreatha Gillis-Bishop reached a milestone few ever achieve, celebrating her 111th birthday over the weekend Sat. Dec. 20, surrounded by family, friends and a lifetime of memories.
The celebration took place at Duke’s Bar-B-Que Restaurant in Aiken, where servers gathered to sing “Happy Birthday” as Gillis-Bishop smiled from ear to ear. More than 60 people attended the event, honoring a woman whose life spans more than a century.
