AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Salvation Army in Aiken is down to its last bed for men as temperatures drop, leaving the city’s only overnight emergency shelter nearly at capacity.
The shelter is prepared to put out cots if the need arises, according to Mario Williams, shelter manager for the Salvation Army of Aiken.
“Our shelter for men, I think we’re at capacity except for one bed. Women, we are still the same, may have two beds. We’re seeing more come in the afternoons, some trying to get warm, not wanting to stay, but our men’s beds have increased the last two days,” Williams said…
