Jumpers take polar plunge in Appling for New Year’s resolutions

APPLING, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – People in Appling celebrated the 13th annual polar plunge on New Year’s Day Thursday.

More than a dozen people took the plunge into Strom Thurmond Lake at around 11 a.m.

A 5-year-old was hit and killed by a car on New Year’s Eve in Aiken County, according to officials.

Before they hopped in, they wrote their goals for 2026 and “took the plunge” to commit to their goals…
